Every day, in most corners of our lives, music plays a role. We hum while we wait for an elevator, hear carols playing in stores, sing with family and friends in groups or informally, or just rock out in the car as we rush from place to place (not that I would ever do that!). Music enhances our moods, emphasizes festivities, evokes either calm or excitement or most importantly builds a sense of community and common ground among listeners and musicians.
Music truly is the first, best language of the heart. It’s poetry on steroids. So, in this time of thankfulness and family and friends, when we’re all taking a break from the everyday rush to savor, share, and celebrate, I urge you to think about the soundtrack of your life, and add that to the many things you’re thankful for. As for those of us at the Bend A Cappella Festival, we’re thankful for all of the ways that music plays into our lives, and most especially, for the talented musicians and groups who will be joining us for a wonderful, collaborative, community-building weekend in February. Happy Thanksgiving!! Comments are closed.
