There are many skilled craftsman involved. I'd like to introduce you to Nick Girard, one of the fine craftsman that has helped build one of the best a cappella groups in the world, The House Jacks. Born and raised in the great state of Maine, Nick Girard became interested in music in 4th grade when he started playing the clarinet. Upon realizing that girls aren’t overly fond of glasses-wearing, math-loving clarinetists, Nick switched to drums in middle school, much to the delight of his family and neighbors. Guitar was even better at attracting female attention, so he grew out his hair, bought a Stratocaster and began writing love songs. Nick’s first encounter with a cappella was as a college freshman at the University of Vermont. Enticed by the Top Cats’ marketing slogan “Chicks Dig Guys Who Sing,” Nick joined the group as a tenor and later became the group’s vocal percussionist. After graduating from UVM with a degree in applied mathematics and computer science, Nick worked as a telecommunications analyst before ditching the 9 to 5 to become a carpenter. In 2006, he started Overboard as a side project. Five years, five albums and seven CARA nominations later, Overboard expanded into a cappella production work and Overboard Productions was born. Nick’s work for Overboard productions has since been featured on 20/20, The Today Show, TBS and NBC’s The Sing-Off. When not obsessing over all things a cappella, Nick fills his time by cooking, rock climbing and studying karate. He has (allegedly) stopped doing things for the expressed purpose of impressing girls. We are so honored and fortunate to have The House Jacks as our headliner for this year's festival. We could not be setting the bar any higher for future festivals, and we hope you are as thrilled as we are!! Be sure to register today!
