As we continue to introduce you to the amazingly talented individuals that make up the fantastic headlining group for this year's festival, THE HOUSE JACKS, Austin Willacy is far more than just a great singer.
Austin Willacy is a veteran member of The House Jacks with whom he has produced 10 full-length albums and completed multiple world tours. For the past 18 years, Austin has directed ‘Til Dawn, Youth in Arts’ award-winning teen a cappella group that empowers youth to find their voices in many ways.
Austin is also an award-winning singer/songwriter with 4 CD’s and 2 EP’s to his name. His music is soulful and raucous, tender and comic. Austin’s music has been featured on “The Sing Off”, “Road Rules”, an Australian ad campaign and three feature film soundtracks. He’s appeared in Rolling Stone and has performed with icons such as Bonnie Raitt and up and coming artists like Jem, Vienna Teng, Rachael Yamagata and Amos Lee.
With complete activist cred as an organizer and facilitator for YES! his former service on the board for Rainforest Action Network and a side career in soundalike singing voiceovers, including Guitar Hero and Karaoke Revolution, Austin is a renaissance man. But, who cares about all that? Because what matters is what Bonnie Raitt told him...“You can really F*ckin sing!”
Be sure to register TODAY so that you do not miss your chance to meet, be moved by, and monumentally awed by Austin at the Bend A Cappella Festival, February 19-21.

It takes a plan, a dream, desire, hard work, sweat, and determination to build a house. There are many skilled craftsman involved.
I'd like to introduce you to Nick Girard, one of the fine craftsman that has helped build one of the best a cappella groups in the world, The House Jacks.
Born and raised in the great state of Maine, Nick Girard became interested in music in 4th grade when he started playing the clarinet. Upon realizing that girls aren’t overly fond of glasses-wearing, math-loving clarinetists, Nick switched to drums in middle school, much to the delight of his family and neighbors. Guitar was even better at attracting female attention, so he grew out his hair, bought a Stratocaster and began writing love songs.
Nick’s first encounter with a cappella was as a college freshman at the University of Vermont. Enticed by the Top Cats’ marketing slogan “Chicks Dig Guys Who Sing,” Nick joined the group as a tenor and later became the group’s vocal percussionist.
After graduating from UVM with a degree in applied mathematics and computer science, Nick worked as a telecommunications analyst before ditching the 9 to 5 to become a carpenter. In 2006, he started Overboard as a side project. Five years, five albums and seven CARA nominations later, Overboard expanded into a cappella production work and Overboard Productions was born. Nick’s work for Overboard productions has since been featured on 20/20, The Today Show, TBS and NBC’s The Sing-Off.
When not obsessing over all things a cappella, Nick fills his time by cooking, rock climbing and studying karate. He has (allegedly) stopped doing things for the expressed purpose of impressing girls.
